Vignette lovin'...

Is this not a magical vignette? The wallpaper is gorgeous. I love the assortment of plates, I love how they are arranged and I love love love the console table. I know, there is a lot of love, but it just looks so beautiful I had to share it. Unfortunately I can't share the source of this image as I've had it tucked away in my files.

ZZzzz...

Firstly, I am so tired that if I actually got the chance to sleep, I'd sleep for a week. Our Little Man is having trouble sleeping which in turn means the rest of us are in the same boat. I will apologise in advance if I waffle, make spelling mistakes, am distracted or just nod off during this post. I need a burst of creative motivation to keep trudging on this week.

So, I'll do my best to brighten things up.

How lovely is this house?
Its in my home town of Dalby. I loved it when I was a kid and I still love it now.
Each time I go home I see more and more new house and land/packaged homes and new estates popping up. I'd have a hard time living in something new when there are so many little gems getting around that just need some love.
I wonder who lives there now? I'm tempted to knock on the door and ask for a tour!! Bit too cheeky?
Don't you just love it?

How do we feel about a hand drawn/painted bed head?
I love it. Did we see the one that Dale & Sophie did on The Block?
Simple yet effective.

And here is a mantra for me on days like today.
Yeah, I'm tired. Yeah, I'd love things to be easier sometimes.
But I am grateful that I have so much.

I'm currently working on (and when I say 'working on' I mean, I thought about it once on the way to school) a Blog Segment called 'Houses in the Hood'. I figure I could show you some of the gems in my neighbourhood. Sounds good in theory but hopefully no one will call the cops on the crazy lady taking photos in the street.

Have a great day. And get yourselves some rest ;-)

PS: Its Memorial Day today in The States. This time last year we were with friends in Palm Springs California, sunning ourselves by the pool. Ahhh!

A quick one

It's almost time for the school pick up...I swear the hours between 9am and 3pm just disappear. So, this morning I had to go get new tyres fitted on the car. Boring! Well, no, it was great because the place where I had them fitted is in walking distance to the Woolloongabba Antiques Centre (aka My Other Home).

I managed to walk away with only one small purchase today, 2 vintage Spiderman comics that my big boy will love, but I took a couple of snaps of my fave bits (that I can't ram into my house but were worth noting).

This pic doesn't do it justice but I spotted a huge framed Bally print.
Stopped me dead in my tracks.
Beautiful.

One day I'll have one of these.
I'll actually buy it and have it installed in my house.
Then I can stop taking photos of every cast iron fireplace I see :-/

And this is my Mothers Day Present.
Toastie, huh!?

I've been a little slack with the posts this week but will do my best to redeem myself next week. I have a shopping expedition planned with a friend to source bits and pieces to style her two (yes, two) new bathrooms. Fun!

A visit from the Snot Monster...

A little graphic, I know, but things are very snotty and gross around here. Myself and my big boy both have nasty head colds. Let's hope the baby doesn't get our germs or I'm moving out (til it passes...and he has all his teeth).

So...we're all feeling a little like this.

In an effort to add some sunshine to our day here are some images I have been getting lost in lately.

I love this picture so much. The colour and composition is spot on. I think it is the perfect shade of purple on that divine chair that stops my heart.

By now I'm sure everyone is as much in love with Anna Spiro's wallpaper line (for Porters Paints) as I am. She is so talented. She rocks colour and texture like no one's business. I love how she layers a space. Everything she puts together looks considered but comfortable. Sheesh, listen to me, this cold medication is working wonders for my linguistics.

One more...

Is it the art wall, the sofa or that shade of pink? Maybe its all of those things all together??
Whatever it is, I love it.

You know starting this blog was exactly what the Doctor ordered. Its my outlet, my therapy and a place to share all the ideas I have that I can't cram into one little 1950's post war.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm off to wipe some noses :-/

Happy Mothers Day

Hiya...

I hope all the Mumma's had a great day. I know I did. I think my personal highlight was the impromptu disco in our backyard where my eldest Son and my 2 Nephews showcased their complete disregard for the art of dance. It was, however, hilarious (the neighbours might say otherwise).

So, I got a chiminea! A what I hear some of you say.  Its an outdoor clay chimney so we can all sit around the fire out on the deck. I don't pick it up til tomorrow so when its all set up I'll post some pics. I'm excited.

I 'ummm'ed and 'ahhh'ed about posting a pic of my boys on my blog but have decided its a definite 'aha'. Considering the significance of today and the fact they really are the centre of everything in my world I just had to share.

I love them so much that sometimes I think my heart might actually burst.
Thankfully when it gets to that stage one of them usually does something naughty so I've managed to stay in one piece (so far)...;-)

Now, back to the design'y' stuff...

Below is a chair I spotted in the window at Laura Ashley when I was out and about during the week. I love it. Its the perfect reading chair. Its a damn shame I don't have a square inch of space in my house to accommodate such a cute piece. It just looks so....friendly!

Have a great week.

J.

PS: If you're reading this blog I'd love some feedback. Please feel free to comment. I'd love to know what you think.

The Hall Wall

2 posts already this week, I know, I'm feeling particularly creative. I thought I would share a snap of my latest project. I removed the mirror and hall table from the end of our hallway...they were old, boring and predictable, and created an Art Wall.

I'm not completely 100% happy with it just yet. I still need to tweak it a little but I'm certainly happy with the concept. I'm also on the hunt for a vintage stool to place in the corner.  I want to find an old piece and spray it canary yellow. Yep, still with the yellow.

What do we think? I think it needs more black...or maybe something circular??

Work in progress...

Stuff...

I know...super creative title. I'm quite the literary genius today.

I just wrote a very clever, very witty, VERY LONG post and deleted it by mistake. Damn me and my complete lack of technical-ness. Well, it probably wasn't that clever and witty but it took me ages and the baby is asleep and I'm on borrowed time.

So, I'll recap. Below is a pic of how I spent part of my morning. Big thanks to Ms K for my new Tori Spelling book. I love it. I mean, I love Interior Styling but if there is one thing that comes a close second it's 'chucking a party'. I love table decor, home made cake and Goody Bags. Tori does good Goody Bags. She is also responsible for me embracing the caftan.  In fact, I could probably say "if it's okay by Tori, it's ok by me'.

Like my mug?  I got it from Anthropologie in San Francisco. It's supposed to be a J but it could be an I or possibly a T. I scooped it up in a shopping frenzy and perhaps didn't stop to check the details. That happens to me in Anthropologie. Its my single most fave store on the planet.  Whenever we go to The States it is my MUST SHOP destination. Ooh, blog idea, wheel out all my 'Anthro merch' and take some pics.

Anyway, I'm off to learn all there is to know about the Dessert Table (if Tori doesn't know it, it's probably not worth knowing).

Have a great week.  I'll leave you with something delish for weekly inspiration.

*sigh*

Truly, madly, deeply...

...in love with this sofa. The pic doesn't do it justice. Check it out in all its fabulous glory in the May issue of Real Living (page 66).  It looks killer with the Grey accents.

I have dreams of a fantastic tufted sofa in a bold fabric print but, alas, when you have 2 little boys the reality is something different. Mind you, I have been living with my brown macro suede lounge for a little too long.  It's somewhat 'Brown Town' in my lounge room at present.

I guess I'll pop a new sofa on 'The List' below the new pendant lights (which are now in stock...it's totally a sign).

Sofa from Ruby Star Traders

Today I'm off for a belated Birthday lunch with my dear friend K. She lives in 1970! Seriously, she has a new home and it's an enormous brick house that is in a 70's time warp. I'm talking gold carpet, bamboo wallpaper and a Billiard Room (complete with gigantic billiard table). I totally love the place. It reminds me of the Brady Bunch house. I'll have to take some pics for you...Retro-tastic at it's absolute best.

Happy Friday x

PS: I turned 35 during the week. Eeekkk. I have no idea how that happened.
